Joanne Kazmierski

Joanne KazmierskiJoanne is the CEO and founder of Global Business Logistix, LLC, a company formed to provide exceptional project leadership in the international trade and logistics industry with a focus on workforce & economic development. Check out her company on Facebook!

Joanne has over 16 years of experience in the port, logistics, supply chain and transportation industry in areas of workforce and economic development experience with the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) and the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). Her clients include the University of South Florida, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida, FSCJ, Jax Chamber and other educational institutions throughout the state and country.

Volunteering is important to Joanne. She currently is the Vice Chair of GlobalJax. a regional arm of the U.S. State Department, responsible for hosting hundreds of emerging leaders from all around the world. She serves at the VP of Communications for the Women in Transportation Seminar of Northeast Florida. She has been an avid mentor via Girl Scouting, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NE Florida and with local entrepreneurs.

Joanne has received her BS Degree in Marketing and Business Administration from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Joanne is carefree, passionate, family-oriented, and a work-a-holic who loves the mountains and nature! For relaxation, she enjoys a good walk on the beach or a bike ride. She and her husband, Dave, have two children, Jessica, and Justin, who both attend Florida State University in Tallahassee.

Philip A. Alia
Vice President/Treasurer (Interim)

Philip A. AliaPhilip brings over 15 years of marketing communications and business management expertise specializing in brand management, marketing strategy, executive and crisis communications, customer service, strategic messaging, public relations, special events, advertising, creative development and corporate sponsorships.

Alia’s management experience includes successfully managing up to 58 full-time staff, over 1,000 volunteers and operating budgets in excess of $22M. He is currently number three for internal, external, investor, and executive communications for a $1.6B, publicly-traded company.

Philip’s professional experience includes management positions with various service-oriented companies including Advanced Disposal Services, Inc. (NYSE: ADSW), the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, Vivid Media Concepts (an award-winning, multi-million dollar advertising agency), Forbes Magazine, Time Warner (NYSE: TWX), and the Walt Disney World Co. (NYSE: DIS). Philip received his Bachelors of Science from Rider University, a Graduate Certificate in Marketing Strategy from Cornell University’s Johnson School of Management, and his Master of Business Administration from Southeastern University.

Alia is currently the President of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) in Jacksonville and has previously served on various boards including; the Marine Industries Association of NE Florida, the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross and is a volunteer with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He has been married for over 20 years, has two sons and resides in St. Johns County, Fla.

Sherry Sanderford
Vice President of Membership

Sherry SanderfordSherry Sanderford is a strategic communications leader with extensive experience in corporate, health care and health technology communications. She is the principal of S2 Communications & Consulting where she provides communications strategy and consulting, public relations, executive communications, and writing and editing to businesses and non-profit organizations.

Sherry spent 20 years at Aetna/CVS Health leading executive communications, internal communications and media relations to drive brand reputation, employee engagement, media coverage and thought leadership for numerous business areas, including the company’s Commercial, Service Operations, Network, National Accounts businesses and more.  Sherry is an experienced leader of people and adept at counseling senior executives and influencing the direction, vision, and prioritization of communications strategies to ensure optimal organizational and business results. Prior to Aetna, Sherry managed internal communications for a large regional financial services company and led communications at the American Cancer Society early in her career.

Sherry received her bachelor’s degree in Communications from Florida State University. She is a Florida native and lives in Jacksonville with her husband, younger son, German Shepherd Dog, and three cats. Sherry is involved with JTC Running as a volunteer pace leader for the Gate River Run training class and Fall Half Marathon training class. She completed her first marathon in 2019 at the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC.
